CONTEMPORARY REALIST PAINTER
David Brayshaw is a well-known Australian artist, with over 20 solo and 50 group exhibitions, and has won over 30 art prizes. He has exhibited in solo & group shows in major cities in Australia as well as exhibiting in Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai and the USA.
His art has been featured in a number of publications and his work is included in many private, corporate and Gallery collections including Australian Art Bank and other collections in USA, Canada, Switzerland, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Denmark, Britain and Germany. He has recently been commissioned by international designers to paint a series of large major works of the Great Barrier Reef for two of the largest super yachts ever built.
The current series of paintings focus on the Great Barrier Reef, Ningaloo Reef and Australian coastal beaches, representing the precious and fragile qualities of these threatened environments. David, is involved with a University and currently various organisations that have involvement towards the protection of the Great Barrier Reef.
At a young age his paintings were spotted by a Gallery Director and he achieved first gallery sales at the age of 16, after working in the fashion and design field for a number of years David moved onto becoming a professional artist at 22, complementing many years of painting full time with two years Visual Arts studies in 1994-95.
Across the spectrum David’s work draws upon a range of historical and contemporary art sources, techniques and personal experiences bringing together an array of imagery that captures an individual vision of Australia.
